A Healthy Mind Equals A Healthy Body

There is an old saying that a healthy mind equals a healthy body. This is actually not so far from the truth. A healthy mind is indeed indicative of a healthy body. Health is both physical and mental and to keep your mind healthy it needs to be exercised just as much as the body needs exercising.

Life is a continual learning curve and we are never too old to be trained in a new skill. It may take a little longer to absorb new information as adults, but it is well worth the effort. I am very proud of the older people in our community who have integrated computers, mobile phones and other technological equipment into their lives, not easy when you've lived so long without them.

It is vitally important to keep on learning throughout life and I feel sad for those that say they hate books and avoid anything to do with study. Watching TV can be a useful medium for gaining knowledge of world events and other cultures as there are some great documentaries, but to become involved personally in new ventures is so much more satisfying. It seems that every town has day and evening classes covering a whole range of subjects and just by making the effort to get to the classes, a whole new world of people and possible friendships can open up, as well as learning about new subjects.

How Addiction Treatment Is Done

Drug addiction is one of the world's biggest problems. Although millions of people around the world get hooked into the use of prohibited drugs everyday, most of them end up being sorry that they even dared to try using it. Some have successfully gotten their way out of addiction, but some never did despite wanting to get out of it very badly. One of the reasons that other drug dependents are not able to get out of their addiction successfully is because instead of enrolling in drug treatment centers to recover, they just condition themselves and do everything on their own.

Why is it important to still enroll in drug treatment centers to get away with addiction? Can your will and determination not be enough to recover on your own? Drug addiction is never considered good primarily because of its harmful side effects to our individual health. These side effects include hallucinations, cardiac disorders, dizziness, chills, painful tremors, impaired balance and other severe medical disorders that may eventually cause death or coma. These are the reasons that most drug dependents would like to get away with it. However, getting away with drug dependency or withdrawal from the use of drugs is not that easy. Drug dependents would have to suffer its withdrawal symptoms which may be very hard for them to manage. In most cases, only the experts from drug treatment centers are able to help drug dependents in managing withdrawal symptoms.

In order for them to successfully get away with their addiction, drug dependents need to enroll in drug treatment centers. In these centers they are guaranteed that no matter how hard the withdrawal symptoms may be, they are going to get through it without having to suffer as much pain because they can be provided with prescribed medication.

Lymphedema Treatment – Identifying and Treating Lymphedema

For years Jane worked as a nurse which required her to be on her feet most of the day. One day one of her legs began to get bigger. Over time it became 4 to 6 inches bigger than the other leg. She experienced a lot of pain all the time so she went to an endocrinologist who did a CAT scan, Ultrasound and some blood work. He said she had some edema in her legs but there was nothing he could do about it so she didn't receive any antibiotics.

Feeling a little frustrated she visited a massage therapist who provided some relief by massaging the fluid out of her leg. The massage therapist suggested it was a lymph condition. When Jane went home that night she Googled it and found photos that closely resembled her own situation...the legs were fat, swollen, lumpy and bumpy. She exclaimed "my God those are my legs." It was the first time she could put the right name to her condition.

Some months later a lymphatic center opened near her home and they identified she had Lymphedema and were able to put her on a treatment plan.
